ganymedesrocks:eccellenze-italiane:Bartolomeo CampiPesaro, 1546Bartolomeo Campi was born in the Veneto where he was trained to become a goldsmith, engraver and maker of arms and armours of such merit that they elicited the praise from the great Pedro Aretino himself. In about that same period Campi made an armour for Guidobaldo II, Duke of Urbino in the Roman Imperial Style, which work was presented to Charles V. The cuirass is superbly modelled on a human torso, decorated with a medusa head and bands of gold with silver flowers. The shoulder-pieces are blackened steel in the form of masks with golden eyes and the lambrequins hanging from the cuirass end in medallions and masks. The helmet is decorated with a crown of gold leafs. -- source link
