The Margaret Coughlan Collection contains books inscribed by many notable authors, one of whom is Cynthia Voigt. The two books of hers in this collection are Dicey’s Song and A Solitary Blue. The first is the sequel to Homecoming and was awarded the Newbery Medal in 1983. The second is described as a companion book to Dicey’s Song and was a 1984 Newbery Honor book. Dicey’s Song and A Solitary Blue are the only books by Cynthia Voigt that have received Newbery awards, and were among the books mentioned when she was given the Margaret Edwards Award in 1995. These two books are part of Voigt’s Tillerman Cycle, which follows the lives of the Tillerman family and their friends. Pitt Special Collections has first edition copies of six of the seven titles in the series. The Coughlan collection copies are affectionately inscribed from Cynthia to Peggy Coughlan.-Lauren Galloway, Archival AssistantSource:“Cynthia Voigt.” Wikipedia.
