gffa:gffa:Rebels Recon: Inside “Wolves and a Door” and “A World Between Worlds”:CARRIE BECK:  "What you get a little bit more understanding around is what the Emperor might be after in terms of furthering his own power.  Not just about taking over control of the galaxy and ruling with order, but what other devious things he might be wanting to discover that secure him as the ultimate power in the universe.“DAVE FILONI:  "We’ve long discussed in meetings that the Emperor would be somewhat obsessed with the history and with the Sith and that’s one of the reasons he was looking for the Temple on Malachor.  And one of the things he knows about is this kind of place or gateway where he can control, through time and space, different events, through the Force.”[….]  And then [Ezra] knows that evil also wants it, because things like that–things that are too good to be true–evil always those things, to destroy them and to use them for ill purposes.“ (x)After I was done reeling from HOLY SHIT STAR WARS HAS CANONICAL TIME TRAVEL NOW it really hit me that this episode just underscored the absolute hell out of how the Jedi were goddamned right.This episode of Rebels Recon confirmed that this was where Ezra and Yoda had their conversation, that he knew about this other world (though, how much they could touch it isn’t clarified, whether they simply knew or whether they could access it, because it’s entirely possible that Yoda only could touch that place after his years and years of communing with the Force on Dagobah, much as he’s learning to become a Force Ghost, rather than that he always could), that the temple on Lothal gave Ezra the ability to go literally CHANGE THE PAST.And that Palpatine KNEW IT WAS THERE.  That the Jedi were right about how they had to do everything possible to keep some shit a secret because these dangerous people, whether they were Sith or a Darksider or just someone who would have used it for ill (because THAT IS A THING THAT HAPPENS IN THE GFFA), there were evil people who would want this, who always wanted things like this, who would have used it for ill purposes.They had to hide it because Palpatine, had the Jedi given even an iota more of info out about it, would have used that against them and the entire galaxy and time itself.  We see how absolutely terrifying it is for Palpatine to be reaching out to Ezra, how his fire coils around and drags Ezra back towards him, how he almost managed to breach that place, and the sheer absolute mind-numbing terror of what Palpatine could have done to a galaxy where he could have reached back into time and changed ANYTHING.We see what happens when this stuff that the Jedi have at least an idea about comes up–we see that it has the potential to CRUSH EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE EVER.And that’s just on a cosmic level.  THE PERSONAL LEVEL IS JUST AS TERRIFYING, via @dapurinthos:HE’D HAVE DONE TO ANAKIN THE ABUSE HE HEAPED ON MAUL FROM THE TIME HE WAS A SMALL CHILD.  PROBABLY WOULD HAVE KILLED SHMI IMMEDIATELY, TAKEN ANAKIN, AND MADE HIS LIFE NOTHING BUT SITH LIGHTNING, ICE COLD, AND TERRORIZING FEELINGS, UNTIL ANAKIN WAS NOTHING BUT HATE. -- source link
