Leaf in amberIn a recent post on blue amber from the Dominican republic (see http://tinyurl.com/lompw53), we mentioned that it was the fossilised resin of a tree called Hymenaea protera. These saps are released when a tree is injured to prevent moisture loss and the entry of disease organisms.
