Spooky Creatures/Legend: KrampusWhile children who misbehave in the West can expect coal from Santa for Christmas, those who live in parts of Alpine Europe can expect a visit from St. Nicholas’s companion, Krampus. Krampus is typically depicted as a hooved, hairy, demon with goat horns, and a long, pointy, lolling tongue. He carries chains which are sometimes accompanied by bells, and either a whip or some type of branch to swat children with.  Other legends state that Krampus carries a large sack in order to kidnap naughty children.
