Monet at Poissy (44)Farewell to PoissyMonet returned home from Etretat on February 21, 1883. His rival Ernest Hoschedé had left the house in a hurry to avoid a meeting with his wife’s lover. Alice was satisfied with the declarations of love and committment that Monet had sent her in his last letters. He would have done even better if he hadn’t forgotten to mention her birthday…Yes, I know, all of this so sounds like a soap...The lease at Poissy was coming to an end on April 15. A renewal was out of the question, because the whole family felt little affection for the place. So Monet went looking for a new home. A place where he would be able to stay for a long time.Less than 2 months later, the Monet/Hoschedé bunch moved to Giverny. -- source link
