Coral MushroomsThe claviaroids get their colloquial name from their resemblance to the lovely structures built by polyps and algae on the bottom of shallow tropical seas, and usually form in leaf litter or on rotting wood. They were one of Linnaeus’s original genera in 1753 though they have subsequently turned out to belong to different unrelated groups.
