It was released on December 11, 2020, through Republic Records, less than five months after Swift’s eighth studio album, folklore (2020). Swift described evermore as a “sister record” to folklore.With this album, as with its sister record, Swift drifts away from her roots as an autobiographical songwriter, choosing instead to focus on crafting her own characters and weaving them into original stories. This new style is perhaps most masterfully carried out on the tracks champagne problems and no body, no crime, the former of which was co-written with the elusive William Bowery.Regardless, there are still nods to Swift’s personal struggles with past platonic and romantic relationships on closure and coney island, respectively.
