Veronica americana is in the family Plantaginaceae. Commonly known as American speedwell, it is native to temperate and arctic areas of Asia, and much of North America. This species grows in aquatic habitats, and is generally found near flowing rivers, streams, and creeks. American speedwell is also edible, with the leaves reportedly tasting similar to watercress.
