kihaku-gato:bambuita:Walked around the garden today to check how things are looking, since I will be buying some hay tomorrow and try the “Ruth Stout NO WORK GARDENING METHOD”. Our vegetable garden is covered in these adorable tender white gentle like flowers but I have no idea what they called. I’ve seen them before but this spring they covering about 75% of the garden( the other 25% is grass). I truly not worried since I rather have them, than GRASS!!! I dislike grass, its so hard to get rid off. I just want to research what’s growing in my veggie garden to take advantage or know the disadvantage. I did pulled some to check my soil and it looks great! All loose, dark and fluffy, so I’m happy! I got a green thumb but I’m bad with names of plants …and sometimes people . Thanks gardeners! 3/27/16The white flowered ones are chickweed (Stellaria media) while the pink flowers are purple deadnettle (Lamium purpureum). Chickweed loves moist rich soil supposedly so that’s some good new for you! ^-^These are both edible! Personally, young chickweed is pretty darn tasty, we eat it in the garden as a snack. The purple deadnettle has a less than appealing texture and the flavor is meh, so we don’t bother with it. -- source link
