anarcho-queer:I’ve had this blog for 6 years now but today I’m breaking my anonymity to ask for your help.Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico on Wednesday (September 20th) and my family has not heard from my grandmother since. She lives in Fajardo, a town on the east coast where the Hurricane first hit, causing a storm surge up to 9 feet.My abuela has diabetes and systolic heart failure (her heart is working at 50% capacity). It’s important that she takes her meds daily but we currently don’t know if she has access to it. The power is down and cell phone towers are destroyed. There is no means of communication. The only news we have from Fajardo are pictures that offer us no consolation. These are the images coming from my town in Puerto Rico:My mother and I are trying to fly to Puerto Rico as soon as possible but most of the airport is flooded and American Airline (the only airline offering flights to Puerto Rico) is charging over $1,000 one-way per person. We’re not asking for much, just the bare minimum we need to fly to Puerto Rico and check on my grandmother. If money permits, we will also buy a generator to ensure she has access to electricity in order to cook and recover. Please donate what you can, and if you cannot, please reblog. -- source link
