Our latest interview is with Cortnie Elizabeth see why this DC chick is buying strictly color this spring…What inspires you to blog? Blogging about my own personal style is fun. Time-consuming, but fun. It’s taken me places I didn’t think I’d be and I’ve met some wonderful and talented people. How would you define your personal style? This question always hurts my brain. I usually say that it’s casual chic. Masculine at times, but definitely flirty other times. I love men’s sweaters (for their large size) and blazers, but I thoroughly enjoy dresses and skirts. Do you find that you follow fashion trends, or do you play by your own rules?I’m always mindful of what’s trending, but at the end of the day I’m going to wear what I want. I never buy anything with the idea that it’s “in” right now. Items to get, what are you searching for right now? Amazing pieces of vintage jewelry is one. I made a vow to myself to add to my jewelry collection this year.Any shoes and/or bags by Alexander WangI really want to give printed pants a try. Are there any colors you tend to shy away from, and if so why?Ok, so I noticed that I own a large amount of earth tones even though I love color. This spring I’m banning myself from buying any black, navy, tan or white. Strictly color! When you hear the term “Black Girl Killing It” what comes to mind?I think of a female working the hell out of her personal style. Breathtaking in her own right. As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?I think I loved clothes as a child. I remember dressing up in heels that were way too big for me and playing in my grandmother’s jewelry. But I definitely grew into loving it more as I got older. Do you participate in your local fashion scene?DC has a wonderful group of ladies that are bloggers. We’re determined to put DC on the map as far as style goes. Everyone is very supportive of one another. It’s been a lot of fun. Many events to attend, mingling and photo-snapping! What is your greatest fashion pet peeve? It genuinely irritates me to see people wearing waistbelts over t-shirts or tank tops. Not only is it not needed, but it looks terrible. Have you ever tried your hand at design or sewing?I actually just learned to sew at the end of August last year. My grandmother taught me. I started making oversized clutches and selling them on Etsy. The response has been overwhelming. Check them out at http://lovecortnie.etsy.com!Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?I’m a huge fan of Rebecca Taylor and love the Olsen sisters Elizabeth & James line. Who are your style icons?Zoe Saldana is probably my favorite and the most relatable for me. Her style is amazing.
