GAME OF THRONES: SEASON 6, EPISODE 10Winter is coming. All men must die. And Game of Thrones is back! Stay tuned each week as we unpack Sunday’s episodes through masterpieces. Most satisfying season finale ever? Settled some fan theories once and for all! At the capital, two trials by the Seven are set, one ending in mutilation and the other in fire before it even begins. After wildfire destroys roses and sparrows, a young king removes his crown and jumps (giving new meaning to King’s Landing). This forces a mourning grandmother to make alliances with snakes and an old acquaintance promising “fire and blood” before a mad queen ascends the Iron Throne. Elsewhere a young family seeks employment at Westeros’ own of the Library of Alexandria (“You are permitted to use the library”) and a girl serves an unappetizing pot pie with a side of death. In the North, a red witch is banished as a white raven brings the news that Winter has finally arrived. A schemer admits his dream to the Lady of Winterfell. In the face of a war to come, the clans unite behind a new King of the North and the three-eyed raven’s trip into the past reveals our hero’s royal origin. Far to the East the mother of dragons bids farewell to a love, receives good counsel, and sets out across the sea with her fleet to retake the Seven Kingdoms. To make our Game of Thrones posts more international, we’ll feature an image from our Global Middle Ages exhibition and pick “wildcard” images from other collections around the world. This week’s wildcard image of the Hereford Cathedral Library comes from the Internet Archive. This week’s pick from The Getty’s Traversing the Globe exhibition is a naval scene from the Getty’s permanent collection.Dive deeper with featurettes connecting the making of medieval manuscripts to the making of fantasy TV. -- source link
