vandaliatraveler:As you can guess from my prior two posts, round-lobed hepatica (Hepatica nobilis var. obtusa, a.k.a Anemone americana) was out in force on Chestnut Ridge this past weekend and looking quite stunning. Although superficially similar to its sharp-lobed kin (Hepatica nobilis var. acuta, a.k.a, Anemone acutiloba), round-lobed hepatica has blunt rather than pointy-tipped leaves and grows in damp, upland woods at higher elevations. You can search my Tumblr for an earlier post on “sharp-lobed hepatica” to compare the two species. -- source link
