Some people really have nice houses…On the way down the from the Mirador de San Nicolás in Granada. The small cobbled roads are very beautiful, especially in the upper area. The Arabic history of this city (and great parts of Spain) is very obvious and besides of adding beauty it gives kind of an exotic touch to the atmosphere.More down to the hill all the effects of being a tourist area get concentrated: souvenir shop after souvenir shop. The rest of the city is.., well: a city. It has it’s nice places and corners and some spectacular beautiful points with wonderful views to the nearby mountains of the Sierra Nevada, but in the end it’s just another city with all the same shops and offers as meanwhile every city in the world.I believe, besides of being starting point to visit the Sierra Nevada, the main reason to visit Granada is the Alhambra, and the opposite hill with it’s old and narrow alleys. If you want to visit the Alhambra make sure to make a reservation for your ticket timely, best even before you arrive to Granada. And then take a whole day only for the Alhambra. From what I heard and the photos I’ve seen it must be really worthwhile and should I ever come back to Granada this is for sure what I will do. (You can visit large parts around the Alhambra for free, but to see the most beautiful parts of the gardens and the castle itself you need a ticket). -- source link
