Bright Eyes’ first and only RIAA Gold Record award. Of course I think there should be several more of these awards for them, but the music consumption model has been upended as you all know. I always recommend investing in a turntable, personally, but do what works for you.Looking at this makes me so happy that they’ve gotten the attention they have. Way back when we saw our friends’ bands shows with 30 or 40 people, we in the audience felt like we were in on an incredible secret. And I guess at the time we were. Of course it wasn’t just Bright Eyes then, but also Lullaby for the Working Class, The Faint, Cursive, and many more. It was so amazing, but there was only a tiny group that got to experience it. Thankfully it didn’t stay that way. It was too great to stay a secret, and I’m happy that you guys get to have the same feelings that we did, years and years ago watching our friends sing their hearts out in rented house basements and decrepit clubs. We knew what we were hearing transcended that moment, and ultimately it did. -- source link
