yehlsays:Tablelands, Gros Mourne National Park, Newfoundland. That reddish rock is called peridotite and it comes from the earth’s mantle. It all gets shoved up out of the ground when tectonic plates collide. It doesn’t have the stuff that the surface of the earth has that lets it sustain life. Met a guy here, whilst trying to cross this creek. Which was actually not easy, on account of you slip, you crack your head open on mantle rock. Anyway, his name, if I recall was Bob, but he reminded me of my brother. Big guy, long hair, gentle. He wanted so bad to get up this trail but it was physically difficult for him. The creek was what nearly defeated him, but with a little teamwork we got across and I hope it was as worth it for him as it was for me. It really was an incredible place to see. Hope you’re well, Bob. -- source link
