Coco Chanel is one of the most famous Fashion Designers in history, and founder of the still popular Chanel brand. She was raised in an orphanage and taught how to sew by the nuns there. She had a brief career as a singer, which is where she earned the name “Coco”. At age 27, she opened her first shop in Paris in 1910 selling hats before moving on to clothes, and many of her styles remain iconic to this day. Although her story is controversial, it’s thanks to her that corsets went out of fashion as women began wearing her more casual, liberating style. -- source link
