Tunnel (aqueduct) of Eupalinos. Samos, Greece. Built in 6th cent BCE by excavating from both ends (“amphistomon”). Eupalinos had two teams digging from two sides, and the methods he used to ensure that the two teams met at the same position both vertically and horizontally in the middle of the mountain are simply ingenious. He was only off by 4 cm, even if the two teams had no way to contact each other. -- source link
