I just started this book yesterday, ‘A Madness So Discreet’ by Mindy McGinnis. I’m about halfway through and I can’t put it down. I read it to the point of passing out last night and will likely attempt to finish it tonight!! It’s about a young girl, Grace Mae, Asylums both good and bad, her silence, and her brilliance. I tend to avoid stories based around very tired themes, asylums being one of those, as they just end up being recycled nonsense or they rely too heavily on cliches. This is not one of those books. I’m very pleasantly surprised by how good it is. The language is to die for, it’s bordering on extravagant but with a heavy dose of grit. The story thus far has absolutely sucked me in, and the best of all, it doesn’t have a grossly predictable plot! I’ll likely do a review once I’m done, but if you are looking for a new book, this might be it!
