everyoneisgay: Longest Days, Sacred Nights | A Mixtape Everyone Is Gay’s May Mixtape, in partnership with Masjid Al-Rabia, is titled “Longest Days, Sacred Nights,” & centers on the celebration of Ramadan for queer and trans communities! “It’s hot. The days are (too) long. The haraam police are out in full force. It’s still twenty minutes to Maghrib and you are HANGRY. If you hear “not even water?” one more time today you might snap for good. Don’t snap! Dance! Let’s have some fun instead! Be extremely queer and/or extremely trans and celebrate the beautiful parts of this holy month and this beautiful Summer. Friends, family (the given and chosen), good food, camaraderie, and a drive to look inside the self and try to be better people. Ramadan can be magical! The world can be exhausting. Take a little time to uplift one another and celebrate the holiday. Here’s a little something to get you through the day–‘zinester & blogger Punkjabi has put together a Queer & Trans Ramadan Mixtape to glitter-bomb those Ramadan doldrums and start us out on these Longest Days and Sacred Nights. Salaams, y'all!” - Mahdia Lynn, Director of Masjid Al-Rabia Songs curated by @punkjabizine, and cover illustration by Elise Schuenke!Link to the Spotify Mixtape here! Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more resources for LGBTQ communities celebrating Ramadan, in collaboration with Masjid Al-Rabia. I am SO FLIPPIN’ EXCITED to share this project with you all. Keep an eye out, we’ve got an entire month of programming for LGBTQ Muslim youth still to come! -- source link
