But any studio would do that, it’s not cost-effective to build a model from scratch every time when you got a decent base mesh. And the features are unique enough. I don’t know what people are expecting, Disney never had revolutionary character design. They have a signature style and very high technical quality. If you want creative character designs go watch a Gobelins short or something.Hm, I wouldn’t be surprised is they used Rapunzel’s base again (like you said, it’s much cheaper than starting from scratch), and I also agree that this is also kind of a style thing. Disney does have a style, so all their princess characters have tended to have similar shapes and features (for better or for worse). But I do think Moana’s features set her apart, she doesn’t just look like a white princess with a darker skin tone (at least to me?). -- source link
