November 2016 - Willow Weep For MeTo explain my relationship with weeping willows could probably fill a novel at this point.. in any case, a coworker found this young tree in the garbage at Lowes. It was merely underwatered. She hacked off most of the branches, gave it lots of water, and then gave it to me and kept one for herself. I have coveted a fluffy dreamy weeping willow since I was a young child, so this is a dream come true. Part of my plan for owning this property is so that I could have a weeping willow. They’re seriously magical trees, especially if you work with water.Placement is complicated by the fact that the river sometimes brings violent flooding, full of garbage and logs, that can really damage a young tree. So despite my original plan of putting it next to the river where it could be beautiful and idyllic, it was placed on the other side of the sycamores - but still in the flood plain. On the other side of the sycamores, there’s the blasted power lines and the super destructive power line crews that can show up. At some point I will try my hand at cloning the weeping willow so there’s several.Image quality for this photo will probably be wonky. It’s not a great photo, but it was originally higher quality which maxed out the size Tumblr accepts apparently and then things got weird. Check out that soil though, it’s agricultural grade! Even in this severe drought, it had some dampness. Willow Weep for Me is one of my favorite songs. -- source link
