whatthefuckisthatthing:Meet my favorite creature of the sea, the mimic octopus!They weren’t discovered until 1998, in the hugely diverse populations of Southeast Asia; in 2010, they were also found living in the great barrier reef in Northern Queensland.Their name is self explanatory- the mimic octopus is able to take on the form of over 15 different species by changing shape and color, including a venomous lion fish, a sea snake, and a flatfish- all of which are poisonous, unlike the mimic octopus itself.The mimic octopus has not yet been assessed for the IUCN Red List. -- source link
