I’ve created a photo series titled “Sambos On The Beach” which serves as a didactic critique of Anti-Black and Anti-Indigenous geographic landmarks in Santa Barbara. This image of a street sign in the sleepy beachside community calls out the hypocrisy of Santa Barbara’s sanitized reimagining of its missionary history and the celebratory erasure of the systematic genocide of indigenous peoples of central California.
