theia-mania-comics:The Family Party 102.The plants that Persephone mentions were used as contraceptives and/or abortifacients in ancient Greece and Rome. Most of them have been proven to be effective, to a certain degree. The most effective contraceptive was silphium, a plant that only grew on a small strip of land near the coastal city of Cyrene in North Africa. It’s supposed to have gone extinct (maybe because of its popularity as a contraceptive), but since the exact identity of the plant is not known, we don’t know for sure if it really is extinct. -- source link
