lilyandbabooshka: Tough as a Desert Rose Natacha Ramsay-Levi was expected to “add some intellectual ‘rive gauche’ depth to that kind of ‘unbearable lightness of being’ typical of the Chloé girl” ~(Virginie Mouzat of VF France said this and it’s possibly the greatest fashion line ever said ) - those expectations were met and then some. The Spring collection fused this sleek Western toughness (elaborate knuckledusters, golden amulets with major edge, sleek gleaming rivulets on everything) with the beautiful palette and femininity of a Georgia okeefe painting (and a bit of the artists tendency towards Spartan-tailoring) and lastly a toungue-in-cheek Gallic humor (that gorgeous horse embroidery on those impeccably tailored blazers) . There was definitely a tiny bit of a LV-esque undercurrent to the collection (Ramsay-Levi was Nicolas Ghesquières right-hand woman at the French heritage brand and helped bring it to that pinnacle of cool where it now resides. That being said the aesthetic was also very much her own and the color palette (Lavender! Chartreuse! Butterscotch! Ochre!) was feminine and simpatico with a certain stylish serenity that is afoot in fashion. The collection is earthy and yet also high-brow; fusing the wants of the thinking woman with a cool indie aesthetic that ultimately conveys a movement towards a slower, detail-oriented and very studied brand of chic. I recently have embarked on a sartorial journey with MTJF wear a completely sustainable, environmentally-conscious brand that’s DNA is embedded with this idea of what does the thinking woman want? We are a small brand and we prefer an intimacy- as Yoneat of MTJF so beautifully summed it up “ we want an emotionally connection with our customers”- fierce women who are a bit renegade but wholly refined. We culled a motivation and inspiration from Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s breakout collection. It is sultry, soulful and subtle- brewed together in an exquisite ode to the female spirit. Here’s to thinking women everywhere and the clothes that make them feel their best self. -- source link
