halcyon-dreams-x: honestly-adorkable: moku-youbi: warpedchyld: yogalobster: Difficult to avoid. / I’m curious. Oh my god…I know it’s supposed to be Kid Will and Adul Hannibal and Kid Hannibl and adult Will… but my mind went to Single Dad AU and baby mix-up in the hospital. Will and Molly had their baby the same night Bedelia and Hannibal had theirs. It was a busy night and they were understaffed and both women had complications. In the rush thier lived the babies were mistakenly given the wrong identity bracelets.Bedelia didn’t make it but Molly did. A few years later, Molly dies and Will sends their son to Hannibal for therapy and Hannibal is startled to see the ghost of himself as a child. He and Will talk and Will sees a picture of Hannibal’s son and it’s his turn to be stunned to see his childhood face staring back at him. At first, as soon as he sees the child and does the research that confirms his suspicion, Hannibal is ready to do anything to get his son back, which basically means killing Will Graham (because there’s no way he’s giving up the son he’s raised in exchange–they’re both his). But as he’s developing his plan, he continues therapy with the boy, asking probing questions about his father and their situation, and finds himself intrigued by Will–he knows the son he has raised did not learn his empathy from Hannibal, and he’s read a bit about what Will does for the FBI. So he suggests that to further help his son in therapy, he needs to have sessions with Will, as well with very definite plans on how to bring their two families together… Hannibal loosened and relaxed his body language as much as he could for the comfort of his five year old reflection. “Andrew,” he began perfectly kindly, “How was your week?” “It was great Dr. Lecter!” The blond child bounced in his seat with a grin that certainly didn’t belong to Hannibal, “Dad took me fishing and we caught this ginormous bass and the dogs were there too and-” Hannibal, wincing from his progeny’s use of the word “ginormous”, still kept his easy composure for the entire session, asking relevant questions and getting succinct and intelligible responses in return. “Did this trip feel different,” Hannibal asked when Andrew was taking a breath, “without your mother there with you?” Hannibal felt his fists clench and his stomach drop at the sight of his child’s entire attitude change, wilting posture and the lights in his eyes dimming down. “It felt like she was missing and not dead,” Andrew mumbled, “And it felt like she left for the corner store to get marshmallows and we were waiting for her to come back. And when she didn’t come back it felt worse. Like she’d gone away all over again.” If Hannibal was pushing the plans forward in his mind closer than was probably safe in order to get his child under his roof again, then no one had to know but him. “How do you feel about the fishing trip,” Hannibal started the next day, “without your wife there to bring you and Andrew marshmallows?” Will turned from his examination of the bookshelf to Hannibal, who was seated with a perfectly blank look from his chair. “Andrew had a good time,” Will said, “but we were all missing Molly. Even the dogs didn’t have the energy they used to have without her there. It felt like there was a great empty space in the air around us, waiting to be filled but always void. Andrew was able to ignore most of it, I think, but by the end it was unavoidable that we both felt her gone. I took him home after that.” “Being a single parent is difficult when we do not have the support to change what is ailing our children,” Hannibal said as he stood up to walk to his desk, “Which is why there are so many single parents support groups. That way, we may be better able to care for our children with the advice of others while caring for the emotional and mental stability of ourselves. Others look for a romantic partner to assist in not only themselves but with the stability of their children. Here is something that I would like to give to you, Will, one single parent to another.” Will walked over to the desk where Hannibal was holding up a business card on professional stock and an envelope, creamy colored in a thick and undoubtedly expensive paper. “I don’t need a nanny,” Will frowned down at the business card, “I’m there everyday to pick him up from daycare and I make sure that I don’t work weekends. Even the FBI knows that I’ll only do long distance profiles with pictures and Skype.” “Esmeralda is the nanny I have for whenever I have to make an appearance for the Opera or I have a dinner that Micheal otherwise would not enjoy,” Hannibal motioned with the envelope, “which so happens to be an invitation to both for you from me.” Will blinked. “Dinner and a show, Dr. Lecter? Is this a parent support group of two or a date?” “I believe the answer is yes. Is there something wrong with that?” “I’d ask what you were expecting from asking out a patient.” “We are only having conversations, are we not?” Will licked his lips. “I suppose we are.” He took Hannibal’s offering and placed them in his pocket. THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER. I loved this when it was just the fanfic alone. It was so cute. But now as part of a mix-up story? asdfghjhgfdsadfghjk the adorable level just skyrocketed. Thank you, fandom. You are brilliant. Now. Moooar. WOW! I love these stories! KEEP SECRETS. -- source link
