So this game right here is very clearly a tribute of some sort/inspired by a certain game series that involves surviving from 12-6 am as something tries to get in your room and kill you.Boogeyman gives you an 8-year-old protagonist (probably close in age to the kid in FNAF 4) and charges you with keeping him alive each night in his new house. There are a ton of references to FNAF in here that I noticed in a Let’s Play:On the wall, there’s a drawing of a bear with a top hat (see image)One of the ways the boogeyman can enter your room is through the vents (a mechanic used in FNAF 2 and FNAF 3)The boogeyman is fended off using your flashlight (a mechanic used both by the child in FNAF 4 when the animatronics are down the hall and Jeremy and Fritz in FNAF 2 when Foxy gets into the office)A music box plays Pop Goes the Weasel (the song that plays if you forget to wind up the music box in FNAF 2 and the Puppet is coming for your head)Sometimes the boogeyman is in the closet (like Foxy in FNAF 4)You can check under the bed (again, similar to FNAF 4 when you look for the Freddles on top of your bed)The timeframe is from 12-6 am, which is the same as all four FNAF installments You play through multiple nights with an increase in difficulty on each nightYour flashlight can run out of battery, leaving you helpless (much like what happens if you run through the power in FNAF 1)Sounds really familiar. The developer says there’s a hidden story in there, too, so this has got to be a nod to FNAF or even inspired by it. At this point, FNAF is well on its way to creating or defining a genre of horror games where you can’t move from the room you’re in and have to essentially defend yourself until the morning. Not bad, Scott. -- source link
