The girl in the photo is making sure it will last as long as possible. Notice the free-standing “pedestal pin-cushion” below her arm, and the bolts of new silk material ready for her to combine into something new and beautiful. Some Kimono were more “Art” then they were mere “clothes”. Some became heirlooms. Many are still collectible today because of the care given to them.
