Oil Spills in Trinidad Over the past month, a series of 11 separate oil spills have occurred along a pipeline run by Petrotrin, the main oil company in the nation of Trinidad and Tobago. At present the cause of these spills is controversial. The national government has hit the company with a multi-million dollar fine, but the company is alleging that some of the spills result from sabotage. At least thousand barrels of oil have been spilled into the Caribbean, and it’s difficult to know at present how much more there could have been based on press reports.
