As you go through life, do not practice subtraction….. instead add up your blessings, opportunities, possibilities. In so doing you will be relaxed, outgoing, and successful. You are the only person in existence who can use your potential. It is an awesome responsibility. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. - Matthew 5:9 GOLD IN THE GARBAGE: “Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you; they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.” - Bernice Johnson Reagon Each of us likely knows somebody that can take any situation and find the “gold” in it. The person that doesn’t see rush hour as annoying traffic but a place to “think and reflect”. The person that sees the good in any person and always provides that aggressive driver an out….”maybe they have an emergency”….while you are screaming “what a jerk!”. Or for today…the tax check I’m going to write is going to be used to help others and fill potholes! With a little work, we can be “that person”. We can train ourselves to see “the gold” in situations and people. We can make a decision to find the “gold” in each day. The examples I just mentioned are simple ones. The key is seeing the gold when life is pushing hard on bigger issues….when you are really challenged. It’s amazing what can happen when we refuse to settle for the garbage view and stay dedicated to the golden one….when we take the bold view that hope can rise in the middle of the worst situations. Take inventory this week, look at your life with “fresh eyes,” and see what gold you can find hiding in plain sight! HAVE A GREAT START TO YOUR WEEK! -- source link
