descroissants:Scener ur ett Äktenskap (Ingmar Bergman, 1973) xLove and Pain(Vampire) (Edvard Munch, 1893-4)Munch’s Love and Pain very much like Bergman’s Scenes from a Marriage, gives an inauspicious and macabre view on love. They both suggest a relationship between falling/being in love and getting hurt. There is a tenderness and intimacy in this painting and film that is not entirely threatening, and yet the woman dominates the vulnerable man or does she? Munch has deliberately made their relationship ambiguous, because he did not believe that there is an easy answer to love and neither did Bergman. -- source link
