vaninnavaninni:Fever in the cabine ! Christian Dior Haute Couture Automne/Hiver 2009-2010. Titled ‘C’est la fièvre de la cabine’ (’fever in the cabine’ - the small dressing room where haute couture models gathered to get ready and change before and during shows), this haute couture collection, shown in the house’s avenue Montaigne salons, was inspired by ‘the iconic photographs of Monsieur Dior with his favourite models in the cabine of the Maison Dior’ to endeavour to re-create ‘the energy, excitement and anticipation that surround a Dior salon presentation’.It was a way for Galliano to pay homage to the house’s original models - Lucky, Victoire, Alla and the others. ‘Mr Dior adored these girls who brought his creations to life. Each look is in every way individual, acted out as a character for the audience of clients packed in the Grand Salon. All in fuchsia, orange, citrus yellow, zebra of jaguar, this is personality dressing.’It was, Galliano said, ‘as if the girls weren’t ready, and someone said, “Just go !”, allowing the designer to reveal ‘the layers, supports and underpinnings that sculpted the iconic silhouettes of Mr Dior… Their meticulous inner constuction is on display, as is the savoir faire of the haute couture ateliers.’John Galliano’s words are from a WWD article. Check out this interview of the designer, backstage footage and the collection itself.
