#ThrowbackThursday Joyce Bellinger, originally from Canada, began living and working part time at Glencairn in 1947 while attending Bryn Athyn College—which is just across the street from Glencairn. Within a few years she became the full-time housekeeper and also Mildred Pitcairn’s personal assistant. Joyce coordinated the details of events such as the annual Glencairn Christmas Sing, and visits by the Pitcairns’ many grandchildren. When Mildred Pitcairn died in 1979, Joyce continued on as housekeeper, assisting with the building’s transition from family home to Glencairn Museum. She also became a tour guide, and took on the role of tour coordinator. When she retired in 1992 after 45 years of service at Glencairn, Joyce became a part-time archivist at the Glencairn Museum Archives, helping to organize and make accessible a vast collection of letters, photographs, speeches, and other material. She passed away in 2010. -- source link
