@rozzwil tagged me (thanks! <3) to post some first and last art I’ve done of my ocs and uhuhh because I have so many, I decided to go with my dragon age oc’s as well.Sorry, not gonna tag anyone particular, but do this if you feel like it! It was fun to dig through some old art (even tho auuughhg) and it’s nice to notice how you and your art and style have developed and how the characters have evolved!I’m going to leave the extra ramblings about the characters (and art styles) under the cut as wellVelka MaharielShe is my oldest dragon age oc. We had gotten DA:I in our hands and started from there basically without any knowledge about the series (So yeah she started as an Inquisitor Velka Lavellan). The Falon’din’s vallaslin happened to look pretty to me so I went with that but she has also always been a bit melancholic (I think even then I imagined how she had lived through the Blight as a teen and what that does to a motherfucker). The art is a bit stiff and I was still shy with face & body shapes (I mean I’m still learning but)… & I was trying to grasp doing clean ink lineart properly for the first time. Anyway, I made some stupid choices in the game, got anxiety & stopped playing. Then I picked up Dragon Age games again in uhhh 2020? But this time started from Origins and made Velka my warden. I changed her vallaslin to Sylaise’s, because I think she is also somewhat a hearthkeeper. Not the hunter or the warrior but something that keeps everything and everyone together and safe. And I think the idea of home is very important to her. She is ready to sacrifice herself so that her clan and all the other elves can keep their homes or what is left of them. She lived through the Blight even though she had to sacrifice many things (including her eye and sense of belonging). I think she will never have biological children, but she tries to be a mother figure to all wardens, elves, and mages who want her to be that (currently mostly traveling with Anders and Hawke). And she finally has some strong (and soft) shapes.(No Hawke btw because the Hawke of Velka’s and Sonera’s timeline is @artist-rat ‘s Rene Hawke! They also did this ‘first and last’ art meme go take a look!!)Sonera LavellanSonera’s character and the art has changed least during the first and last picture of them I think? My art got a bit bolder (yasss) and face shapes bit more versatile (yassssssssssss). Most of the changes in their character happened during the game’s events (they have always been a rogue Lavellan). They changed from bows to daggers when I got the specialization in game (assassin, btw). They are too bold fighter for their own good and they have paid for that… (Luckily they are also very resilient, even though I was debating whether they survive the Trespasser or not). The big scar on their cheek is from the battle of Haven (where I died so many times because I refused to tone down the difficulty). Then, because they also died during the Descent, I decided to give them the taint and make them a warden (because… how could they avoid it???). During and after the Trespasser they are very very tired…. but they have their strong bf Iron Bull, and their twin Telithal Lavellan (also artist-rat’s character!)Petja CouslandShe’s from a different timeline than Velka, Rene, and Sonera (& Telia). And oldest character of these even though she is the newest in DA (I haven’t even played her DA:O timeline through). She first appeared as an npc in my first D&D campaign. The art is an olllllllldd style that was kind of painting, kind of line art, and kind of stiff (and the character shapes were WEAK). Then two a bit more recent pictures of her when she was my Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion character. Still a sly and kind of comical merchant (you cannot sell the amulet of kings, btw). Art was kind of starting to be nice tho? Then I decided to revive her last year by putting her in Dragon Age Origins. No more silly merchant, now only traumatized and angry noble. But I think her character is still going to change quite a lot… -- source link
