#Repost @fat_therapist (@get_repost)・・・There’s a tendency to think that fat acceptance or being fat positive is an approach to health, like a reverse diet where everyone loses control, gains all the weight they can, glorifies their fat diseases and lives a fetishised, deviant lifestyle. Fat acceptance and positivity is actually a social movement that challenges anti-fat attitudes and biases which lead to marginalisation, stigma, exclusion and it is these factors which have the greatest impact upon the greater health of an individual fat or not! It also challenges the position that as a society we limit our respect, compassion and care for those who we believe “brought it on themselves”. The movement goes further to state that even if a fat person is a “bad fatty” they are still worthy of respect and treated with decency, not just tolerated. When people fear that fat acceptance is normalising obesity what they’re actually saying is that they fear the normalisation of the stereotypic practices they think lead to obesity - they make assumptions about how they think the fat body became fat. Let’s keep digging and lighting up those shadows. ✌️ #psychology #dietician #healthateverysize #therapist #food #health #edrecovery #feminism #effyourbeautystandards #fatacceptance #fatpositive #mentalhealth #mentalillness #activism #wellbeing #arttherapy #dietculture #plussize #obesity #fear #compassion #humanrights #fatactivist #yoga #weightloss #selflove -- source link
