March, 2015 - Hellebore and mystery crazy birdThere’s no telling where this plant came from. Is it something we hybridized? Did it come from a friend of a friend? We nurture every little Hellebore we come across. This is the first year this plant has bloomed, a welcome shade of pink in the Geometric Bed.It is warm and rainy. The temps at night are above freezing. The fruit trees are too young to be bearing fruit (and if they were we’d remove it so they can focus their energies on healthy root development) so V is unconcerned about them breaking dormancy early, however I’ve been really looking forward to the blooms. Our cats, the birds, and the frogs, have all been rejoicing in the spring-like weather. There is still one bird here that makes the craziest sounds. Despite going through lots and lots of audio clips of local birds, still NO idea what it is. I assume it’s a larger bird, some bird-of-prey type thing, since we have those around here, and I think I’ve exhausted all the potential small/songbirds it could be. Listening to the audio clips, I’ve realized that birds are something I’ve taken 100% for granted. In my mind, certain bird songs have just always been there, the background music of my life. -- source link
