Capsicum annuum is a species of pepper of which many of the peppers we grow are cultivars. Bell pepper is the same species as serranos and even paprika. The subject of this image is the bolivian rainbow pepper which produces differing colors depending on ripeness and grows pointing upward, but ends up just as red as the majority of peppers. -- source link
