We talkabout whether they put a kid in the Face/Off machine, theories on the moon, andhow this is a true ensemble where everyone is the star of their own story.Listen on: iTunes| DirectDownload | Spotify| Stitcher SPOILERS FOR THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY!Diana: I will say, as much as I loved the show, I didn’tfeel like the characters really cared about each other most of the time. Therewasn’t a lot of sense of urgency about their relationships. I felt like Lutherloved Allison and then everyone else just felt like they were maybe workcolleagues. Like, Five comes back to life, their brother, who they thought wasdead for 12 years, and they don’t really celebrate and they just let him wanderaway for like three days. They just didn’t feel like they cared about eachother until probably the last episode. Andrew: I’m not gonna strongly disagree with you, they doall feel a little bit selfish but they all also have incredible things on theirplate and I don’t think it’s that they don’t care about each other, I thinkthat this is just a true ensemble and every character thinks that they had themost important day and so they aren’t thinking to check in with one another. Whetherit’s Diego saying his ex-girlfriend was murdered and he’s vowing to avenge her,or Allison investigating Leonard, they’re each the star of their own show intheir minds and none of them realize they’re in an ensemble. Like Klaus was torturedfor two days, went to Vietnam, fell in love, had his love die in his arms, andthen he got back to his family and Diego was like, “Why weren’t you waiting inthe van?” and Klaus is just like, “never mind”, but Diego doesn’t know what Klauswent through and Klaus doesn’t know that Diego’s girlfriend was killed, etc. Ithink that there’s something kind of poetic and lifelike about that, thateveryone thinks that they’re the protagonist of the story and it’s not thatthey don’t care but that they’re all dealing with their own shit.- The Hosts of The Talk From Superheroes Podcast on How Everyone IsDealing With Their Own Shit in the Umbrella Academy -- source link
