One of the most captivating and unsettling unsolved homicide cases I’ve gotten obsessed with is the July 1982 murder of an unidentified 14-20 yo victim nicknamed “Princess Doe”The details: She was found in a NJ cemetery on a bank by a creek in the morning by a grave digger, lying on her back with her face nearly caved in. Her skirt was off and lying on top of her, a gold cross was tangled in her hair and she only had red nail polish on her right hand. Her hands and arms were scarred from fighting back. This is basically it as far as facts go, and there are a few theories about a psychotic couple who kidnapped and murdered her but nothing was ever confirmed. Cops have done countless facial reconstructions and composites of Princess Doe, but as you can see she looks different in every illustration.Anyways the most ridiculous thing about this case being unsolved is that she was literally wearing the most distinctive skirt ever. It should have been easy for authorities to track this tacky skirt but they couldn’t, despite some lady giving a tip about seeing Princess Doe in a supermarket before her death. This skirt haunts my dreams ngl it’s so ugly and unique that I can’t believe that even if she was a runaway and homeless with no family, she didn’t have some friend out there somwhere who saw the news and was immediately like “omg it’s her.” Even with such a vibrant marker of individuality, this girl has been unidentified for like 35 years and is lost and gone. -- source link
