sighnomorenomore-:jisbonaddict:jissatmf:daisiesandtea24:jisbonaddict:I’m so impressed Jane said it. He can read anyone and is so self-confident when dealing with everyone but Lisbon. He wasn’t sure she loved him back in S6 though many of us would have thought ‘How could he not?’ And with her he kind of loses his psychic skills and is vulnerable and needs to be reassured and is nervous as if it’s hard for him to believe she’s with him finally. It’s so perfect that we got this parallel with Il Tavolo Bianco ‘You always know what I’m gonna do, huh? - Mostly.’ No, he doesn’t. And Lisbon managed to prove it so many times in S7. I’m crying tears of happiness.THIS…So much THIS…I belive he still can read her very well, but now he just doesn’t want to do it for a number of reasons. First, he likes to be surprised, perhaps he realised that only when he was with Lisbon. Then, he doesn’t want to hurt her, to interfere and get inside her head, that would be unfair with only exception if some problem takes place. And only if something worries her he can try to ‘read’ what it is (just like in the situation with her brothers). I haven’t mentioned that before, but even in 706 when she gave him a cup, theoretically he could have guessed about the nature of the gift as she was so sure of herself, he could have guessed that it was something very special, but he just didn’t want to do it, he didn’t give a try, because he feels so comfortable to be with her and do not use his skills in personal relationship.I agree with you, but I also think that when it comes to their feelings of love, Jane is more exposed to suffering, to uncertainty, his bravado goes away; of course knowing Lisbon for so many years, he knows exactly how she’d react to the majority of situations but I’m also convinced that it’s not his respect of her personal space and things like that that makes him fail at reading her at times. It’s because with her he’s the real Jane without his flawless skills in people’s psychology, and because he can’t help being vulnerable and can’t always control himself. I love this side of him so much, and I love that we’ve been shown it quite extensively. It’s not only that he doesn’t let himself start guessing what she’s thinking, it’s that he can’t, his perceptiveness works differently with the woman he loves. Which does not mean to say that he doesn’t know her in and out. I agree with both, actually. I think he knows her and sees her most of the time. But when it comes to the matters of the heart, I think Jane is just like any other man in love and his bravado and assuredness waver and give way to the doubts that always come with such liquid and unpredictable things as emotions.I think it goes doubly so for him with Lisbon, as they’ve been so many things to each other and expressed it and repressed it in so many different ways - not to mention the circumstances preceding and surrounding his proposal - and I can see how he’d have a degree of uncertainty when it came to her in a romantic context even if I do think he can ‘predict’ her quite well otherwise. I quite like how this love and relationship has humbled him and he’s not at all this self-assured arrogant man he is to the outside world. It’s quite sweet.True. -- source link
