“Poured concrete was used in the stair halls and ceilings, in the stairs themselves from the third floor upward, and for the ceilings of the Pitcairn children’s bedrooms. It is most strikingly displayed in the third floor stair hall, where friezes and beams are set in reliefs of varying Celtic patterns accented by soft colors, and where the face of the stair is moulded in a series of birds taken from Audubon and beautifully detailed by the use of ground mosaic. The ceilings themselves were poured into molds made from seam-faced stone at the cathedral.” (E. Bruce Glenn, _Glencairn: The Story of a Home_, 1990: 63-64) ow.ly/2s87307cTlg -- source link
