So here’s a brief, inconclusive history of one universe in which the Champion and her lover were happy and free (*Note: I’ve only played da2, so this is an AU, please don’t give me spoilers for the rest of the series):They build a cottage in the woods. Varric visits often with news of the revolution. Hawke is mostly pissed off when she gets pregnant, but it’s helpful to have a lover with magic healing hands. She and Anders have their first baby: a little girl with wispy blonde hair and blue eyes as sharp as her mother’s. They call her Leandra. A year in, Varric insists on babysitting Leandra on mother’s day, whilst Anders tugs Hawke into the woods where he’s set up a campsite, ringed it with candles and provided some good old fashioned Fereldan food. He smiles a bit and gestures at the stars, “just like the good old days.” And Hawke is having trouble keeping it together, but eventually she manages, “you didn’t have to do this.” And Anders frowns and steps forward and smiles, gently. “Of course I did. I’m in love with you.”Leandra doesn’t seem to have any magic, and that’s ok. When she’s six, Hawke starts teaching her how to use a sword. She makes a practice dummy in the garden and everything.And hey, Leandra doesn’t have magic, and Anders is still in the habit of being careful, but when she can’t sleep she asks her father to make the stars in his hands, and he rolls glitter in the shadows over her bed and she stares at him like he’s something good and precious with all the innocence of a child and Anders doesn’t really know how to handle that.Leandra is a quiet, thoughtful, well-behaved girl. Neither Anders nor Hawke know where she got it from, but it eases them into parenthood gently enough.Then one day Anders finds his daughter sitting in a forest clearing surrounded by spirits having a very quiet and thoughtful conversation with them.Turns out Leandra is also a Spirit Healer.
