milkchaos:undun-duz:milkchaos:[wip.]continued working on a piece of the tarmac scene i started a while ago (but gave up on it since i couldn’t get the eyes, nose, mouth, shadows, any of it right?? tried to fix it - sshhh i know it’s watercolour). This is great.Things you’ve done fucking well: his pinky eyes, crisp clear irises, soft pinky lips, sparse eyebrow hair… I could go on!Things to think about: are you using black to shade your colours darker? It tends to flatten and suck the life out of portraits. I’m looking at the image on my iPad so I’m not sure whether I’m getting correct colour. If you *are* using black, think about switching to a dark blue to add darker tones to your skin tone, the other alternative would be a burnt umber which will give skin a warm caste, but I think Sherlock’s skin tone would take a cool, blue shade. It means so much that you’re bothering to give me feedback - and thank you!!(Basically why it looks grey-ish’s because I accidentally splashed black paint below - sort of? - his cheekbone/cheek and wasn’t quite quick enough to wipe it off exactly resulting in my trying to blur it out with more grey-ish tones haha but watercolour wasn’t really willing to play my best friend that day)But yes, thank you! Been thinking of which colours to use so thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely try a dark blue for my next shading! -- source link
