todaysdocument:Headed to the movies this weekend? 40 years ago you could have seen Jaws for the first time. Looks like the Fords decided to skip those long lines and caught it a month later at Camp David:fordlibrarymuseum:Jaws turns 40 this year.Released on June 20, 1975, the movie about a great white shark terrorizing a New England town became the first major summer blockbuster. Even President and Mrs. Ford saw Jaws – they watched it during a weekend trip to Camp David on July 19, 1975.I love JAWS, it may be a simple story, but it is told so well. Always forward moving, and with elegant economy in film storytelling aspects. Recently The Simpsons side project I co-curate recast the movie with characters from Springfield. Here’s a link:https://goo.gl/YkwGNHWe did gifs for all the principal characters, remade the poster, and I wrote an essay explaining our decisions. I hope you get a kick out of it. If you do, share it please. And if you get a chance this Summer, go see JAWS in a movie theater or better yet, a drive-in! -- source link
