thatjayjustice:I’ve enjoyed ARCHIE COMICS for years–they’re what many kids start out with, and they’ve been keeping up with the times, adding more diversity and real life issues for the teens of Riverdale to deal with. Today I found out that Jughead would be discussing his asexuality within the pages of his own title. But many readers might be thinking, wait, what does that mean?Asexual means that you experience little to no sexual attraction to others. You can be repulsed by sex, or only feel sexual attraction in specific circumstances. Like everything else, asexuality is a spectrum. It does not mean you can’t find someone attractive or have romantic feelings. It just means that sex is not a big part of your relationships, or no part at all depending on the person. Aromantic means that you experience little to no romantic attraction to others. You still enjoy friendships & platonic relationships but simply have no instinctual need to develop connections of a romantic nature. Again, it will vary from person to person, just like asexuality. You can be one or the other or both.Although I am not asexual myself, I am always glad to see more diversity in the media I enjoy. I like my comics to reflect the world around us. So I was very happy to hear this news, and curious about how exactly writer Chip Zdarsky would characterize Jughead and his identity. So I tweeted him and he responded right away! I can see how Jughead as a teenager might be more aromantic. I’m excited to see more representation in comics! I hope you all check it out when it drops on Wednesday. -- source link
