gffa:(The Last Jedi novelization, by Jason Fry)This pretty much proves the Jedi’s entire point, that rushing into things through burning rage, panic, fear? It will make things worse. Being Force-sensitive is being psychic, which means that their feelings not only affect those around them, but they are more intense and linger if you don’t keep your shit together.Ezra shows this when his fear causes animals to attack. Vader shows this when his rage causes Ahsoka to faint dead away, even on entirely separate ships. Kanan shows this when he tells Sabine about how thoughts and feelings become part of the blade you wield.Having a semi-trained Force-user is like having a semi-trained gun user. You’re bringing an incredibly deadly weapon–two deadly weapons, the Force and that plasma chainsaw you’re wielding there–and can you imagine someone running onto a scene, not in control of themselves, acting out of fear or panic or rage, with a loaded gun they only sort of know how to use, in a chaotic situation? It’s A BAD IDEA. A REALLY BAD IDEA. You need to be calm and in control of yourself before running off for really obvious reasons. And Poe looks over at Leia and repeats this message, even in far less psychic circumstances (aside from Leia), and: “Panic wouldn’t save them.” That’s exactly what the Jedi have been saying.Oh, but there’s the idea that the Jedi don’t allow emotions at all? No, they have explicitly said otherwise:The Jedi have never said that you’re not supposed to have feelings or to suppress them. They say, “Don’t act out of those burning feelings because you will make it worse, for both you and the person you’re trying to help.” and given that Poe says the exact same thing just as general advice for everyone everwhere (never mind psychic space wizards with powerful weapons!), it pretty much proves they were right.Oh, but “there is no emotion”? That’s not a literal code, it’s a meditation mantra about how to reach the Force, because the more noise in your head, the less you hear the Force. When you are calm and in harmony with it, then you can hear the Force. -- source link
