museumofdwellings:atomicflan:gryffindorgay:“According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs, and a head with two faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate beings condemning them to spend their lives in search for their other halves.”~Plato’s The Symposium. How many times will I reblog this? “Always.”We did it at school. The myth also says that the pairings could be male/female, male/male or female/female (just sayin’)Reblogging to comment- Honestly, while this is romantic in the modern capitalistic ideological sense, and yeah, I totally see some cuteness in that tbh, the idea that a person is not whole by themselves is p violent destructive bullshit. One doesn’t need a significant other to be all they can be- sure, they need interactions with other human beings in order to grow, but why does a girl need a boy (or another girl or an enby/agender individual but haha just kidding about that last one because we’re just going to keep pretending I and multitudes of others don’t exist) to be themselves? This perpetuates a pretty harmful consumerist idea that one is never good enough on their own- without a lover, without commodities, without something filling a void that need not be in them to begin with. Romance is great, and I want to smooch everyone, and I experience what most would define as romantic intimacy with like absolutely fucking everyone. If I am attracted to you in any way, which is more likely than not, then I *do* want to cuddlesmooch the shit out of you tbh. Romance or my quoiromantic idea of it is really important to me. But I don’t need to feel shitty about not having someone to love me like that right now, either. I’m my own fucking primary dawg. -- source link
