Ice blossomsWhen our world’s surface freezes, and the ground isn’t already frozen, frost flowers sometimes form in a variety of interesting shapes. This one taken in the Ozark mountains looks like a real albino plant emerging from the womb of the Earth. These are caused by water being drawn by capillary action out of plant stems and the like forming petals as they freeze in the biting air. More water is then drawn out allowing the flower to grow. They melt easily and are usually only found at dawn and dusk or in shaded areas. LozImage credit: Stomoz -- source link
